Access logging is switched off at both layers that serve this site — the content delivery network and the application behind it. Ordinary requests are not written to a log, so there is no record of which pages you looked at. Our hosting provider may process request data transiently in order to deliver the page and to keep the service running; that is operational and not read by us.
The photographs on this site are hosted by Wikimedia Commons and loaded by your browser directly from Wikimedia's servers. That means Wikimedia receives your IP address and browser details when a page with photographs loads, exactly as if you had visited their site. This is how the images stay properly attributed to their photographers rather than copied. See the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy.
Pages also link out to Japanese and English Wikipedia and to OpenStreetMap. Those are ordinary links: nothing is sent until you follow one.
This site carries no advertising and no affiliate links today. If that changes, this page will say what the links do before they appear. Following such a link would hand you to that company, which could set its own cookies to record that you arrived from here — but nothing would be shared with them unless you clicked.
