Doroyu Onsen

Akita · 泥湯温泉

Doroyu Onsen is a hot spring town in Akita, Japan. The water leaves the ground at 60–80°C, hot enough that it has to be cooled before anyone can get in. It measures pH 1.8–5.6 — strongly acidic, the kind that stings on a cut. Officially the water is classed as sulfur spring. 2 inns take visitors here.

The classic rotten-egg smell and milky white water. It can tarnish silver jewellery, so take it off.
