Kintaro Onsen

Kintaro Onsen is a hot spring town in Toyama, Japan. The water leaves the ground at 73.5°C, hot. It measures pH 6.96 — close to neutral. Officially the water is classed as chloride spring, iron spring and sulfur spring. Its sources put out around 1,500 litres a minute. 1 inns take visitors here with room for about 500 guests.

Salty water. The salt leaves a thin film on the skin, so you stay warm well after leaving the bath.

Iron spring 含鉄泉

Turns reddish brown as the iron meets air. The water is clear at the source.

Sulfur spring 硫黄泉

The classic rotten-egg smell and milky white water. It can tarnish silver jewellery, so take it off.
